Helpful MassHealth Resource: Behavioral Health-Justice Involved (BH-JI)

What is BH-JI?  BH-JI is a MassHealth program that helps people leaving jail or prison, people who have recently left jail or prison, people on parole, and people on probation to connect with behavioral health services and social supports in the community.

BH-JI is a partnership between the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) and the Massachusetts Executive Office of the Trial Court (Trial Court). BH-JI helps people who are “justice-involved,” including:

• people leaving jail or prison within six months,
• people who have recently left jail or prison within a year,
• people on parole, and
• people on probation

Mission

  1. Offer a way to help justice-involved people with their mental health and substance use needs;
  2. Improve health, reduce deadly drug overdoses, and support successful health care use for people enrolled in the program; and
  3. Connect people toward the right health care and community services for them.
